Our Services | Iron and Pressing

What we wear leaves an impression on people, especially to those who we don’t know yet. Aside from the way you look, it is sometimes in your way of clothing that people seem to try to get to know you. This may be because your clothing style reflects your personality.

If you are a busy person, then it is understandable that you may not have enough time to wash your clothes. So, it is with us here at Paris Laundromat that we can wash your clothes and have them brought to you once they are already done.

Aside from keeping your clothes clean, we also want you to be in your most presentable style. That’s why if you’re worried about having the need to wear some wrinkled clothes, then we suggest that you also have your clothes ironed or pressed here with us. That way, all you would have to do is wear them and be good to go.

If you’re wondering what is the difference between these two, then here are some things that you may want to know about.

Their purpose

The purpose of ironing and pressing is to keep your clothes crease-free. By having your clothes look really smooth, you will be more presentable, especially if it’s an important event you may want to attend. By looking neat, you will definitely leave an impression of being someone who knows how to keep things in their best quality.

Their differences

It is because of their similar goal that people often interchange using these two terms. Although they may share some similarities, it is undeniable that they are a bit confusing. With that, here are some of the most notable differences between the two.

Method

To iron means to move the iron in a back and forth manner. This is what we are used to doing whenever we are at home. On the other hand, to press is to place the iron and on the fabric and let it stay there for a few seconds before it gets removed.

The equipment

Ironing makes use of an iron and of an ironing board. Sometimes, spray bottles may also be used to help smoothen out some creases. On the other hand, pressing usually makes use of a steam iron or a special steam press machine. Still, there are some techniques which can be used to make use of a regular iron in this method. Oftentimes, a pressing ham is also used to keep the clothes in shape while being pressed.

Cloth maintenance

The thing about ironing is that it can distort some fibres since the motion is done in a back and forth motion. Ironing is also not advisable for quilted materials as well as shirts with heavy prints. On the other hand, pressing is acceptable for these materials as it keeps the fibres in place.
